Golden Globes see sharp drop in viewership: report - Fox News

The Golden Globes have seen yet another drop in viewership.

According to Variety, only 5.4 million people tuned into Sunday's telecast, hosted by "Saturday Night Live" alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The broadcast earned a measly 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, the outlet reports, according to early Neilsen numbers not adjusted for time zone differences.

The numbers do not include viewership from the Pacific time zone. Per The Hollywood Reporter, it also doesn't include any out-of-home viewing figures. Both stats will be included in the final numbers on Tuesday, which will bring up the total a bit, but it won't be anywhere near figures in the past years, THR reports.

Last year's viewership numbers were higher than this year's, earning 14.8 million viewers and a 3.8 demo rating, according to Variety.

Final live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen eventually boosted those numbers to 18.3 million viewers and a 4.7 demo rating.

In 2019, 18.6 million people tuned in, giving the telecast a 5.2 demo rating, which was actually higher than 2018's rating of 5.0 (with viewership at 19 million).

The drastic drop isn't encouraging for NBC as the network reportedly coughs up $60 million per year to air the ceremony.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Fey hosted from New York -- Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room to be exact -- while Poehler stood in at the ceremony's usual venue, the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

During their opening monologue, Fey and Poehler wasted no time mocking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who puts on the show.

In the week leading up to 78th annual awards show came the revelation that there are no Black voting members in the group, something that only reinforced criticism that the press association — which notoriously controversial host Ricky Gervais last year called "very, very racist" in his opening monologue — is in need of overhauling.

The comedic duo's opening monologue was also significant in that they made no mention of politics despite the show being known for its political jabs. The co-hosts failed to mention the months following the 2020 presidential election and embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's mounting sexual harassment allegations.

Though Poehler's and Fey's lack of politics may not come as much of a surprise given that Fey warned viewers before the show not to expect politics.

The first few glimpses of the awards show showed stars from this year's nominated shows and films appearing over Zoom. And to no surprise, this year's ceremony featured some technical difficulties.

During the show, writer and producer Norman Lear was honored for his lengthy career in television with an award named after Carol Burnett.

The Globes also saw massive success for streaming services -- particularly with Netflix, which took home 10 awards across film and television categories.

Hulu, Amazon, Disney+ and Apple TV+ also took home awards, as did HBO, BBC One, Pop TV and more.

T.I. and Tiny deny allegations of rape, kidnapping and drugging - Page Six

Hip-hop couple T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Harris have been accused of a litany of horrifying crimes — including kidnapping and rape — by more than 30 women.

In a press release sent out Sunday, attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn called for a criminal investigation against the couple after dozens of women came forward accusing the pair of “a myriad of allegations of forced drugging, kidnapping, rape, and intimidation in at least two states, including California and Georgia.”

On Monday an attorney for T.I. and Tiny said they “deny in the strongest possible terms these unsubstantiated and baseless allegations” and called it a “shakedown.”

At a virtual press conference on Monday, Blackburn said he’s withholding the names of the women because of concerns about potential intimidation.

One woman claims she was hired to do a private dance for the couple in 2018, during which a spokesperson for Blackburn said “she was forced to take [MDMA, cocaine and other drugs} and engage in unwanted sexual acts with other women. She had her cell phone and belongings taken and was held against her will for three days.”

In 2015, Tiny allegedly hired a teenage friend to work as their assistant, and “on one occasion, T.I. stood over her, and Tiny stood close by, and T.I. forced her to open her mouth and swallow eight ecstasy pills,” Blackburn’s spokesperson added. The alleged victim also claims that she wasn’t paid for her work as an assistant.

Allegations against the couple had circulated on social media before Blackburn made his announcement.

“Clifford (T.I.) and Tameka [Tiny] Harris deny in the strongest possible terms these
unsubstantiated and baseless allegations. We are confident that if these claims are thoroughly and fairly investigated, no charges will be forthcoming,” Steve Sadow, counsel for the couple, said in a statement on their behalf. “These allegations are nothing more than the continuation of a sordid shakedown campaign that began on social media. The Harrises implore everyone not to be taken in by these obvious attempts to manipulate the press and misuse the justice system.”

Blackburn is filing a defamation suit against the couple on behalf of Sabrina Peterson, one of their first accusers, who accused the couple of sex trafficking and accused T.I. of putting a gun to her head. But he says the other, anonymous women aren’t looking for money.

“They’re seeking justice… These women have never put forth a request for money. They’ve never asked for money. Steve Sadow, maybe he misspoke… I didn’t ask him for a dollar and from what I got from the conversations we had from the emails, they were very, very interested in killing this story and these claims,” Blackburn said during the press conference. “They didn’t want this to come out.”

Sadow responded with another statement denying that he tried to “make a deal” to kill the story.

“That is patently false. I reached out to see if he would share any information since his
name was posted on Instagram as the attorney for Sabrina Peterson. Blackburn
repeatedly refused to provide the names of his accuser-clients or any corroborating
or supporting evidence of his groundless claims. The Harrises repeat that they are
confident if a thorough and fair investigation is conducted, no charges will be
brought.”

Vh1 suspended production of their reality show, ““T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle,” after Peterson made her accusations.

Mysterious hand model who pet Amy Poehler at Golden Globes 2021 revealed - New York Post

Who’s that hand?

That was the question on viewers’ minds as they watched the 2021 Golden Globes when a mysterious hand double for Tina Fey, who was in New York, reached through the split screen to pet Amy Poehler, stationed in Los Angeles, during the opening monologue.

“Psyched to add arm model to my resume!!!” makeup artist Molly R. Stern wrote on Instagram, revealing herself to be the mystical arm.

“When Amy Poehler and Tina Fey ask you to participate in their @goldenglobes monologue you most definitely oblige. #ArmModelForHire,” she added.

Stern, who also did Poehler’s makeup for the ceremony, was part of a gag in the monologue as the hosts poked fun at the show’s first-ever bicoastal event.

During the broadcast, the pair were featured on a split screen and Fey, 50, said “the technology is so great you’re never gonna be able to tell the difference” — and proceeded to pretend to pet Poehler, 49, through the dual screen.

“You won’t even notice,” Fey said, while Stern, who was stationed off-camera, stroked Poehler’s hair on Tina’s behalf. “I always knew my career would end with me walking around the Rainbow Room pretending to talk to Amy.”

The identity of the mysterious arm who reached from Tina Fey's split-screen to pet Amy Poehler during the 2021 Golden Globes has been revealed.

The bit of TV magic had Twitter up in arms as they tried to guess who the limb belonged to.

“That person was apparently an official union member of arm models,” one person joked.

Stern has been in showbiz for quite some time, having worked in the makeup department in 1996’s “Swingers.” More recently, she served as Reese Witherspoon’s makeup artist for “Big Little Lies,” according to IMDb, along with countless celebrities seen on her Instagram page.

So, give her a hand.

Why Meghan Markle wore Princess Diana's bracelet during Oprah sit-down: report - Fox News

Meghan Markle is wearing a distinct piece of jewelry during her and her husband Prince Harry's upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey

In the interview, Markle, 39, is seen rocking a bracelet that belonged to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

According to People magazine, the reason behind Markle’s fashion choice was because the couple wanted Diana to be with them in spirit for the interview.

The bracelet was most notably used to craft Markle’s engagement ring in 2017 when Harry took two stones from his late mother’s piece of jewelry to compose the Duchess’ sparkler.

Markle’s ring ultimately featured the stones from Diana’s bracelet, which surround one large stone from the country of Botswana — a country near and dear to Harry’s heart.

Markle is no stranger to rocking the late Diana’s jewelry.

In 2018, Markle — who is expecting her second child — was spotted donning Diana’s butterfly earrings and gold bracelet as she attended events around Sydney, Australia, for her and Prince Harry’s first royal tour. The Duchess of Sussex paired the jewelry with a fitted cream dress by Australian designer Karen Gee.

Diana wore the butterfly earrings in 1986 for her trip to Canada, a year after she gave birth to Harry, People reported. The late princess had worn a blue dress and a matching butterfly necklace to go with the earrings.

In a clip for the couple's upcoming interview with Winfrey, Harry invoked the memory of his late mother, who had to find her way alone after she and Prince Charles divorced.

"I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago," the 36-year-old said of Diana, adding, "because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us. But at least we have each other."

Ryan Fischer, Lady Gaga’s Dog Walker, Breaks Silence After Being Shot - The Cut

Lady Gaga. Photo: Gotham/GC Images

Lady Gaga’s dog walker is awake and Instagramming after an unknown assailant shot him in the chest last week: In the caption to a photo taken from his hospital bed, Ryan Fischer wrote that he is “still in recovery from a very close call with death” and that “a lot of healing still needs to happen.” Nonetheless, he added, “the gratitude for all the love I feel from around this planet is immense and intense.”

Fischer was walking Gaga’s three dogs in Hollywood last Wednesday night when two people got out of a white sedan and approached him on Sierra Bonita Avenue. One person reportedly held Fischer while the other produced a semiautomatic handgun. Per surveillance video, the pair drove off with two of the pop star’s French bulldogs — Koji and Gustav — as Fischer collapsed. Gaga’s third dog, Asia, was said to have run away from the scene, but in one of two Instagrams, Fischer said she “trotted over and laid next to [him]” as “blood poured from his gunshot wound.”

“I cradled Asia as best I could, thanked her for all the incredible adventures we’d been on together, apologized that I couldn’t defend her brothers, and then resolved that I would still try to save them … and myself,” he wrote, calling the dog his “guardian angel.”

Fischer arrived at the hospital in critical condition, but stabilized by Thursday night. Meanwhile, a woman whom police believe to be “uninvolved and unassociated” with the robbery dropped off Koji and Gustav at the Olympic Community Police Station on Friday. No suspects in the case have been publicly identified.

Gaga, who was in Rome working on Ridley Scott’s Gucci at the time of the attack, praised Fischer as a “hero” and is reportedly covering all of his medical bills. In his posts, he thanked her — along with his friends and his family — for her “unwavering” “support as a friend.” For now, he looks “forward to the future and the moment when [he] get[s] bombarded with kisses and licks (and maybe even an excitement pee?) from Asia, Koji, and Gustav.”

Lady Gaga's dog walker speaks out after Hollywood shooting - The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lady Gaga’s dog walker, who was shot last week during a robbery in Hollywood when two of the singer’s French bulldogs were stolen, described the violence and his recovery “from a very close call with death” in social media posts Monday.

Ryan Fischer’s posts included pictures taken from his hospital bed, where he says “(a) lot of healing still needs to happen” but he looks forward to reuniting with the dogs.

Fischer was shot once as he walked three of Lady Gaga’s dogs on Wednesday night on a street just off the famed Sunset Boulevard. Video captured by the doorbell camera of a nearby home captured Fischer’s screams of “Oh my God! I’ve been shot!” and “Help me!” and “I’m bleeding out from my chest!”

Police are seeking two men in the attack and said Monday they are still investigating.

The two dogs, named Koji and Gustav, were returned unharmed Friday evening when a woman showed up at a Los Angeles police station with them. Detectives do not believe she was involved in the robbery or shooting and did not know if she would receive the $500,000 reward Lady Gaga had offered for the dogs’ return. The singer is currently in Rome to film a movie.

More Entertainment Stories:

Fischer thanked Lady Gaga for her support during the ordeal, writing “your babies are back and the family is whole ... we did it!” in Instagram posts. A third dog, named Asia, escaped the assailants and lies down next to Fischer “while a car sped away and blood poured from my gun shot (sic) wound,” he wrote.

The doorbell video shows a white sedan pulling up and two men jumping out. They struggled with the dog walker before one pulled a gun and fired a single shot before fleeing with two of the dogs.
