WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 18

The Bloodline continued its march to Survivor Series Friday night on SmackDown.
    Credit: WWE.com

With Survivor Series: War Games just eight days away, and a united team of The Brawling Brutes and Drew McIntyre bearing down on them, The Bloodline found themselves reeling for the first time in what felt like an eternity to close out last week's show.

Friday night, the most dominant faction in professional wrestling sought to turn the tide back in its favor as Sami Zayn battled Butch in a SmackDown World Cup Quarterfinal match.

Was The Honorary Uce able to send a message to the Brutes on behalf of The Bloodline and remind them who they are dealing with or did the artist formerly known as Pete Dunne score a win that only further put Roman Reigns and his family on the defensive?

Find out with this recap of the November 18 episode of SmackDown.

The Brawling Brutes and Drew McIntyre kicked off the night's show, still riding high from their message-sending beatdown of The Bloodline on last week's show.

Sheamus called out the long, two-decade history between him and The Scottish Warrior but revealed that their issues have created mutual respect among them. So much so that McIntyre was his best man three weeks ago in New York.

Sami Zayn interrupted the proceedings, arrogantly dismissed the idea of a mystery fifth opponent, and built hype for his match with Butch later in the night.

This was perfectly fine promo work from all involved, with some nice continuity from the babyfaces.

Yes, Sheamus and McIntyre have a long history that includes an Old-Fashioned Donnybrook match on the pre-SummerSlam edition of SmackDown so it was a welcome addition to this show for the two of them to explain why they are suddenly close enough to go into battle together.

Zayn remained as great, and over, as ever and helped elevate the segment with his presence alone.

    Top Moments

    • "Is this thing on this time?" Sheamus said, motioning toward the microphone in response to last week's technical gaff.
    • The babyfaces momentarily got a "brutey" chant going in response to the "ucey" chant that The Bloodline created as a result of Zayn's antics a few weeks back.
    • "We don't really care who the fifth member is," Zayn said, interrupting the babyfaces and preventing the revelation of their Survivor Series: War Games team.
    • "Ucey in the Sky with Diamonds," Zayn called himself in a great line.
    • "It will be the last thing you expect," Sheamus forewarned Zayn, suggesting he be less arrogant about the identity of The Bloodline's fifth opponent.

SmackDown World Cup Quarterfinal: Ricochet vs. Mustafa Ali

3 of 8

    Credit: WWE.com

On the heels of Monday's Raw, where he suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Bobby Lashley, Mustafa Ali sought to shake off the effects of the one-sided physicality and defeat Ricochet in the first round of the SmackDown World Cup.

Ali proved resilient, shaking off the crippling injuries to test his opponent. A late 450 splash, though, failed to hit its target as Ali crashed into the mat and drove the air out of himself. Ricochet capitalized and delivered a Shooting Star Press for the win.

This was a strong match with some superb storytelling by way of selling on the part of Ali. The entire thing was built around the idea that he had injured ribs that would adversely affect his ability to compete.

He threw everything he had at his opponent but unfortunately, one miscalculation further injured him and set him up for the finish. It was simple, effective storytelling elevated by Ali understanding the assignment and delivering a grade-A performance.

Ricochet winning sets him up to battle Braun Strowman in the semifinals and given The Monster Among Monster's recent comments about "floppy flop" wrestlers, that one is certainly all the more interesting than its babyface vs. babyface status.

    Result

    Ricochet pinned Ali

    Grade

    B+

    Top Moments

    • During a backstage confrontation, Ali insisted that if he was breathing, he was fighting and told Ricochet he would see him in the ring.
    • Ali delivered a second-rope backstabber to Ricochet to seize control entering the break. In doing so, though, he further injured his ribs.
    • Ricochet rolled through a plancha and countered into a Blue Thunder Drive on the arena floor.
    • Ricochet delivered a Full Nelson suplex, followed with a lariat and standing moonsault for a great near-fall.

Madcap Moss vs. Karrion Kross

4 of 8

    Credit: WWE.com

Three weeks after suffering a humiliating loss to Karrion Kross in which he was put to sleep in the Kross Jacket, Madcap Moss sought revenge against the former NXT world champion one-on-one.

For the second time in as many showdowns, he suffered the same fate.

Despite a strong showing from an intense Moss, Kross was able to lock in the Kross Jacket and force the submission win. After the match, Emma rushed the ring to check on the fallen babyface while Kross taunted from the floor.

This is a potentially beneficial program for both men.

Kross was thrown into an upper-card feud with Drew McIntyre before fans had the opportunity to really invest in him. Moss is a guy who has fallen by the wayside but not has the opportunity to benefit from feuding with a performer in Kross who management clearly sees a lot in.

Letting Kross develop his character on the main roster, and allowing Moss to rebuild momentum and credibility, is the perfect way to go about utilizing both guys in a manner that helps them establish themselves. Adding Emma and Scarlett to the mix for a potential tag team feud is an intriguing possibility, too.

    Result

    Kross defeated Moss via submission

    Grade

    B-

    Top Moments

    • Prior to the match, Emma gave Moss a pep talk, adding to their budding romance storyline.
    • Scarlett cut off a charging Moss, bringing a halt to his momentum.
    • Emma hit the ring to check on Moss after the match and a staredown with Kross and Scarlett teased a potential mixed tag team match in the future.

Bray Wyatt Promo

5 of 8

    Credit: WWE.com

Bray Wyatt made his way to the ring and, once again, waxed poetically about his personal journey to being a better man.

LA Knight interrupted his in-ring promo and claimed to accept Wyatt's apology before smacking him. A second smack unleashed a stoic stare on the face of the intensely angry Wyatt, who did not act on his desires to unleash pain and suffering on Knight, but whose Uncle Howdy persona flashed on the screen behind the NXT export to close out the segment.

The Wyatt-Knight feud may be the most unexpected pairing on WWE television but there are few choices better to torment, taunt and prod at Wyatt, thus unleashing his dark side and giving fans a look at the Eater of Worlds they knew before.

Before this aware, apologetic, forgiveness-seeking incarnation.

The match will be interesting, if only because of the difference in the dynamic of styles, but what fans are really interested in is the next chapter of the Wyatt story. Hopefully, it presents itself sooner rather than later.

    Grade

    B

    Top Moments

    • "Why do I do the things that I do and can I actually change?" Wyatt asked.
    • "The rarest commodity around here is respect," LA Knight said, insinuating that he earned Wyatt's respect a week ago.
    • "Now we're even. Apology accepted. I can go my way, you can go yours," Knight said after slapping Wyatt in the face.
    • "The decision you're about to make right now is going to change the rest of your life," Wyatt said before extending his hand to Knight, who slapped him again.

Shotzi vs. Shayna Baszler (with Ronda Rousey)

6 of 8

    Credit: WWE

On the heels of a No. 1 Contender's Match win a week ago, and a backstage attack that left her unconscious, Shotzi sought a measure of revenge against Shayna Baszler.

Accompanying The Submission Magician? SmackDown Women's champion Ronda Rousey, whom The Ballsy Badass will challenge in Boston at Survivor Series: War Games.

The match was interrupted frequently by outside interference, first from Rousey, then Raquel Rodriguez, who looked to prevent further interjections. The distractions caused by them allowed Shotzi to roll Baszler up for the win.

On the surface, Shotzi picking up a win is a big deal and furthers her momentum entering Survivor Series but she was, at any given point, the third or fourth most focused-on star in this segment.

That does not help her or the creative efforts to build her into a star and legitimate threat to Rousey. Unfortunately, this was a creative misfire, especially since Rodriguez ended up being the real deciding factor in this one.

    Result

    Shotzi defeated Baszler

    Grade

    C

    Top Moments

    • A mid-match confrontation between Shotzi and Rousey nearly provided just the distraction the former needed as Baszler nearly collided with her friend on the apron.
    • Raquel Rodriguez appeared, providing another distraction, this one aiding her tag team partner.

Braun Strowman and New Day vs. Imperium

7 of 8

    Credit: WWE.com

After a backstage confrontation earlier in the show between New Day and Imperium led to the making of a Six-Man Tag Team Match for tonight, Braun Strowman joined Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in the battle against GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.

The heels isolated Woods until a hot tag from Strowman sparked a comeback for the babyfaces. He steamrolled Vinci and Kaiser and manhandled GUNTHER in a way that no one has since his arrival in WWE.

A brief tease of a showdown between those two competitors gave way to New Day putting Kaiser away with the Midnight Hour for the win.

The match was fine, but the idea that GUNTHER is afraid of Strowman is ridiculous. He is the Ring General, capable of match power, intensity and ferocity with anyone. If you want to tell the story of him being caught off-guard by the involvement of The Monster Among Monsters, fine, but to book him to look like a coward is asinine and only takes away from his aura.

So much was put on the potential showdown between them if Strowman manages to win the SmackDown World Cup that one has to wonder if the big man suddenly is a red herring, opening up the potential for someone else to emerge from the field victoriously.

    Result

Strowman and New Day defeated Imperium

    Grade

    B-

    Top Moments

    • Gunther is every bit as tall as Strowman and the commentary team did not make enough of a deal about this.
    • GUNTHER chopped the hell out of Strowman, then took off running around the squared circle in fear of the charging monster.
    • As Woods pinned Kaiser, Strowman entered the ring, causing GUNTHER to retreat from the ring.

SmackDown World Cup Quarterfinal: Butch vs. Sami Zayn

8 of 8

    Credit: WWE.com

The Brawling Brutes earned more momentum at the expense of The Bloodline in Friday's main event as Butch defeated Sami Zayn to advance to the semifinals of the SmackDown World Cup tournament.

A distraction caused by Jey Uso and his brawl with Sheamus allowed Butch to catch Zayn with the Bitter End and score the pinfall victory.

After the match, Roman Reigns made his presence felt, entering the arena to a thunderous ovation before laying waste to The Brawling Brutes and Drew McIntyre.

Then, the reveal of the fifth member of the babyface team at Survivor Series: War Games as Kevin Owens entered to an enormous pop.

He uncorked a series of superkicks and left Reigns reeling to end the show.

This was great stuff all around.

The match itself was fun and everything else that followed was even better. The reaction for Reigns was incredible and Owens matched it, the crowd overwhelmingly enthusiastic about his involvement in the feud and the upcoming War Games match.

It remains to be seen how healthy Owens will be by November 26 but if he is even a fraction of 100 percent, one should probably expect another intense performance from the Prizefighter.

    Result

    Butch pinned Zayn

    Grade

    A

    Top Moments

    • Butch wiped out Jimmy Uso on the floor.
    • The brawl between Sheamus and Jey Uso spilled into the ring, then out of it.
    • Solo Sikoa wiped out Butch before engaging McIntyre in a brawl.
    • Reigns made a STAR entrance, the likes of which are reserved for the absolute tippy-top guys in one's industry. The pop, the energy...unrivaled in the business today. Bar none for full-time competitors.
    • Then Owens went and matched that pop.

Ángela Álvarez

Angela Álvarez's story is like something out of a movie. At an early age, she was forbidden by her father from pursuing a career singing in Cuban nightclubs. After the Cuban Revolution, she made the harrowing decision to send her four children to the United States. After joining them later and building a life in her adopted homeland for decades, her grandson, composer Carlos José Álvarez, recorded her performing the songs that had entertained countless family gatherings. Condensing an entire life into one powerful hour, her self-titled debut was a sensation. It not only made the 95-year-old bolero singer the oldest Latin GRAMMY nominee, but also a film star, with an acclaimed biographical documentary (Miss Angela) and a role in the latest remake of Father of the Bride. — Andrew Casillas*

Sofía Campos

Sofía Campos, an independent singer/songwriter from Argentina who makes dreamy, inviting and heartfelt music in Spanish and Portuguese, describes it as "a mix of the places I've visited: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina." In 2021, she self-released her sunbeam-filled 10-track sophomore album, Lugares Imaginarios, recorded with producer Matías Cella. It features her beautiful collaboration with Natalia Lafourcade, "Verde Nocturno," as well as one with her brother, Chaco Campos, "Segredos Nossos." She released her first EP, Rosa Laranja, in 2018, followed by her debut album, Salvar El Fuego, in 2019. The prestigious South by Southwest Conference selected her to perform as an official artist at its Austin, Texas, festival in April, her first U.S. show. Campos wears her heart on her sleeve with her music, which is perfect for a walk admiring nature or a laid-back cafecito break. — Ana Monroy Yglesias

Cande Y Paulo

Cande y Paulo embody all that is unexpected and sensuous in a style that blends jazz, the classics and the unflinching daring. One day in 2017 this duo decided to upload to social media their performance of the eternally beloved song by Luis Alberto Spinetta, "Barro Tal Vez." A few months and 10 million views later, many discovered that the Cande Buasso y Paulo Carrizo duo was a force to be reckoned with. Hailing from a valley in the San Juan province of Argentina, they're both tenacious, products of a classical music education and families with diverse tastes in music and rhythms. Paulo impresses with his musical prowess, and Cande bewitches with her velvet voice. The end result is a sound that has already traveled much further than they ever imagined. — Ana Santiago

Clarissa

Going from social media influencer to Latin GRAMMY nominee in the span of a year and a half would be a feat for anyone. But for Brazilian indie pop chanteuse Clarissa Müller, it seems almost expected. She has a versatility that's exceedingly rare these days and that is reflected on her self-titled debut EP. Anyone expecting simple songs about overnight fame will be quickly surprised, however, as Clarissa explores themes like love, desire and empowerment with a startling maturity. Perhaps this is best showcased on the single "Ela," which details a burgeoning same-sex romance and the accompanying fear, anxiety, affection and tenderness that are familiar to anyone who's ever been in love. — Andrew Casillas

Silvana Estrada

Silvana Estrada calmly entered the Latin music landscape, and her poetic revolution instantly began. Reared in a family of luthiers in Coatepec, Veracruz, where the son jarocho resonated, the singer and multi-instrumentalist searched her soul to find her voice early on. Her roots, also inspired by jazz, run deep in Latin American folklore, cultivating a powerful, intimate voice that at times channels the spirit of its greats; think Chavela Vargas or Mercedes Sosa. One quality of her raw, hushed voice is that it can turn fiery in an instant. Paired with the pristine fingerstyle of her Venezuelan cuatro, it can evoke the twinkling of a starry night, and the sky's more thunderous moments too. Despite her latest work sprouting from lost love (2022's "Marchita" or "withered"), it flourishes brilliantly like a rose sprouting from concrete. — Isabela Raygoza

Pol Granch

Barely into his teens, Pol Granch (born Pablo Grandjean) began to release songs on social media. In 2018, a TV musical talent contest in his native Spain, Factor X España, opened doors for him. In 2019, he released his first single, "Late," and a self-titled EP. They would be followed by a debut album, Tengo Que Calmarme. Since then, however, the agenda of this pop singer/songwriter, who also claims French heritage, has been anything but calm. Last year, he found widespread recognition with a single and remix, "Tiroteo," featuring Marc Seguí and Rauw Alejandro, respectively. And this year, the twentysomething has another album to his name, Amor Escupido. Spit Love? Well, no one ever said love was easy to understand. — Juan Carlos Pérez-Duthie

Nabález

With his rugged mix of cowboy-pop with an R&B sensibility, up-and-coming Colombian troubadour Nabález is someone to watch. Growing up in Atlanta, Felipe González Abad got immersed in the world of gospel and country, but his heart is clearly in his Colombian heritage as he delves ever deeper into the art of the Latin American ballad. As a producer, the beatmaker started cooking tracks for Latin pop stars like Bebe, Greeicy and Karen Méndez, which elevated his proficiency in contemporary pop. As a solo artist, Nabález set his sights on the regional Mexican music horizon, mastering genres such as ranchera and banda. With a string of successful singles that comprise his ranchera debut and with worthy collaborators such as Majo Aguilar (granddaughter of Antonio Aguilar, an icon from Mexican cinema's golden age), his star will only shine brighter. — Isabela Raygoza

Tiare

Venezuelan-Peruvian newcomer Tiare's aptly titled debut EP Dieciséis is a compositional snapshot with material she wrote between the ages of 13 and 16.

It displays thematic maturity and a knack for songwriting. And her mostly

acoustic guitar-driven pop ballads "La Española," "Líneas De Tu Mano" and "Evaluna" showcase Tiare's songwriting talents and her ability to convey coming- of-age themes in a nuanced and relatable way within a warm, flamenco-tinged vocal delivery and skillful guitar. "Evaluna," produced by Latin GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Periko (Periko & Jessi León), surpassed one million views on YouTube. It's evidence that Tiare's talents are rooted in her ability to connect with a wider audience through her music. — Lissette Corsa

Vale

Vale, the Colombian duo comprised of twin sisters Valentina and Valeria Pérez, displays a rare combination of voices that are at once diaphanous and strong, and they're causing quite a stir in the Latin indie-pop music scene. Together they float ethereally as they overlap and meld harmoniously against a beguiling blend of R&B and folk-pop. Their latest album, Línea Recta, is a collection of eight tracks described by the sisters as "a tribute to imperfections and real beauty." Vale's otherworldly melodies and minimalist acoustic arrangements connote light effervescence on the surface and something deeper within, draped in heartfelt lyrics and tender poeticism, that explore the many crevices where love likes to hide. — Lissette Corsa

Yahritza Y Su Esencia

They've been called the great new promise of regional Mexican music, even though at the beginning of the year, the vocalist of Yahritza y Su Esencia was still in high school. Along with her instrumentalist brothers, Jairo and Mando, Yahritza Martínez grew up in a working-class family in Yakima, Washington. As a small child, she picked fruit in the fields, and at 13 she composed "Soy El Único," with which she tasted digital fame on YouTube. Today, the three Martínez siblings are with Lumbre Music. The label's directors saw a video of a cover made by the group and became, like the title of the trio's debut EP, Obsessed. No matter what the future holds, these young talents understand that they must preserve what sets them apart them: their essence. — Juan Carlos Pérez-Duthie

Nicole Zignago

This past year, Nicole Zignago has gone from behind-the-scenes hitmaker into the spotlight. The Peruvian singer/songwriter made her reputation co-penning global hits like Sofía Reyes' "1, 2, 3" and Mariah Angeliq's "Taxi." After signing with Warner Music México late last year, Zignago debuted as an artist in May with the EP Así Me Siento Hoy. As the title suggests, she has compiled a collection of six deeply personal songs that showcase her versatility. Soaring ballad "Preguntas" finds her processing her feelings after a difficult breakup. Later, in the flamenco-infused "Feelings," Zignago has shaken off the heartbreak. She also embraces elements of R&B in the funky love song "Me Gusta Que Me Gustes." Zignago, also known for being the daughter of singer Gian Marco, is now making a name for herself. — Lucas Villa

Pete Davidson Reveals the "Excuse" Kim Kardashian Used to Not Give Out Her Number - E! NEWS

Pete Davidson has arrived.

The Saturday Night Live alum made his first in-person appearance on Hulu's The Kardashians during the Nov. 17 episode of season two.

While Kim and Pete are no longer together, the episode took viewers through the then-couple's date night at the 2022 Met Gala—which was rather nostalgic for Pete, who asked for Kim's number at the Met the year prior in 2021. It may have been bittersweet nostalgia as Pete explained in the episode that Kim didn't actually give him her digits that night.

Pete said to Kim during the episode, "Remember when I asked for your number at the last Met and you pretended that you couldn't give it to me because you had gloves on?"

Kim replied, "I know. Will you ask me again this time? I don't have gloves on."

Looking back on Kim's answer, Pete continued, "It was actually the nicest excuse ever. I knew it was an excuse, but I remember being in the car being like, 'Wow, she knows how to, like, make someone feel really good about themselves.' I thought that was really sweet."

Amid Reports of Issues Ahead of Taylor Swift Presale Release, Ticketmaster Releases Statement - NBC Chicago

Having issues with Ticketmaster's website? It appears you're not alone.

With fans anxiously awaiting presale for Taylor Swift's upcoming tour, many started noting just before the presale began that the ticket sale site appeared to be down.

"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and our team is working to resolve this as soon as possible," a message on the website read. "We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience."

The website DownDetector saw a surge in reports of issues just after 8 a.m.

"I think ticketmaster is down i’m on the page with the countdown but i tried to open it in another tab to make sure my payment info is right and it keeps giving me an error message," one user wrote on Twitter.

But all is not lost for Swift fans.

Ticketmaster released a statement Tuesday morning to help those looking to get presale tickets.

"Fans who have received a code to the TaylorSwiftTix Presale, should login and access the queue through the link they received via text rather than entering through the Ticketmaster homepage. This will ensure an optimal shopping experience," the company told NBC Chicago in a statement.

Still, even after presale tickets were released, some users reported additional issues with the queue.

Ticketmaster acknowledged ongoing issues and said they are "urgently working to resolve."

Just after noon, Ticketmaster noted there was "historically unprecedented demand" for the tickets, adding that while hundreds of thousands of tickets had been sold, those who were still waiting in the queue should continue to do so.

"Queues are moving and we are working to get fans through as quickly as possible," the company tweeted.

Additional, ticket sales for West Coast locations were delayed.

Chicago is on the docket for three shows at Soldier Field. Swift initially set her sights to Chicago for Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3 supported by the bands girl in red and OWENN. Another show for Sunday, June 4 was added to the bill later, with MUNA and Gracie Abrams cast to perform as openers.

Verified Fan presale tickets were set to go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday on Ticketmaster.
